WHY BE A MEMBER of
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks?
BECAUSE.......

We Elks are a nationwide community service organization of well over a million American citizens. We love our Country and desire to preserve its cherished institutions, traditions & values.

BECAUSE  we expend over sixteen million dollars yearly to bring encouragement, cheer and comfort to veterens throughout the United States in fulfillment of our solemn pledge "So long as there are veterens, The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them."  Our local Lodge members regulary visits the VA hospital in Durham as well as the VA Home in Fayetteville providing entertainment and items of need.  We also support the "Army of Hope", providing holiday meals, an annual Summer bar-b-q and swim day plus support  to National Guard families who have members serving actively overseas and far from home.

BECAUSE  through the Elks National Foundation, a perpetual fund with assets exceeding three hundred and fifty million dollars, we provide over fourteen million each year for college scholarships, grants for higher education to children of deceased Elks and other charitable, benevolent endeavors.

BECAUSE through our local Lodge, district, state and national programs, we provide healthful activities, guidance and assistance to over eight million boys and girls every year.  We fund scholarships, athletic teams, summer camps, scouting and drug education programs. Our local Lodge sponsors both a Boy Scout Troop and Cub Pack, allowing them use of our Lodge as a meeting place.

BECAUSE Elks operate numerous camps, hospitals, clinics, training centers and in home services for the care and treatment of children and adults with physical disabilities including vision and speech problems, all across the country.

BECAUSE in more than 2000 Elks Lodges throughout the United States, smiling faces and a warm welcome await you as an Elk. Locally, we have an active membership of over 300 that enjoy the many activities we run on a weekly basis including our popular $3.00 Wednesday Night Meal, Friday Night dinners usually followed by a loud session of kareoke, sports on televisions at our full service members bar, an annual Summer Luau and more.  We also have a Jr. Olympic sized pool with a tiki bar that our members enjoy during the summer months.
